Hand Made Native American
Belt Buckle-Hand Pounded Silver with inlayed turquoise and red coral.-sold
Selling from an Estate. The executor explains that this belt buckle
was purchased in Quartzite, AZ at the annual POW WOW from a Native living on the
nearby reservation in the late 70's or early 80's. The previous owner
loved to go to Quartzite to the shows in the winter. The buckle has a few scuff
marks from wear but was found stored with some antique silverware wrapped in an
anti-tarnish cloth. It is in remarkable condition with all stones still in place
and little sign of tarnish for the age of the belt buckle. It is not signed and
has a swinging hinge instead of a fixed one as with older buckles of this kind.
The workmanship is probably Zuni and the hand hammering is visible in this
piece. The addition of the red coral and the pine arrowhead design makes
this a more valuable design.
Measuring 3" wide by 2" high with a motif of moons, stylized fetishes and
turquoise makes this belt buckle a very rare and unique addition to your
collection for fashion wear or as a collectible.
